Historic heritage
Local History Weekend
Our local history weekend went very well with over 100 people through the doors of the community centre. A display of fossils, photographs, maps and old family records and newspaper cuttings charting the history of the parish, was set up by Keith Wainwright, our local historian and parish councillor. People came from as far as York and people were reminiscing about places and people recognised on old photographs, some dating back to the early 1900’s, and old school records.
The exhibition was put together by Keith to raise funds for the community centre which is run by volunteers and is totally self funding. Almost £400 was raised and many thanks must go to Keith and the volunteers who helped out. Wednesday, July 20, 2011
